Self-adhesive masking templates for a model of the Soviet Yak-9D fighter in 1:48. The templates are cut to the shape of the glazing panels and come with masks for the wheels, so the frames can be sprayed sharply without cutting tape by hand. The manufacturer also offers a bundle of add-ons under the same name, which brings several sets together — this item is a separate mask set.
The Yak-9 was a single-engined fighter of mixed construction, one of the most numerously built Soviet types of its day. The D version had a larger fuel load in the wing tanks, which extended its range and made escort duties over greater distances possible. The cockpit has a relatively simple arrangement of glazing, which makes it all the more visible when the frame is sprayed untidily.
Wash and degrease the glazing. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it down dry and press the edges with a blunt stick exactly to the line of the frame. Spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one — that way paint does not run under the edge. A first coat in the interior shade pays off. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling along the edge. Use the circular wheel templates by masking the tire and spraying the hub; the border then comes out sharp and you do not have to draw it in with a brush.
This is an add-on to a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
