Eduard 1:48 Zlin Z-526 seat belts STEEL is a small photo-etched set of pre-painted seat belts for the cockpit of the aerobatic Zlin in 1:48 scale. It is the smallest step of interior improvement, not a rebuild of the whole cockpit.

A small etched set from the Czech maker Eduard, meant for the cockpit of a model of the aerobatic Zlin Z-526 in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and it is not a full etched set either: the contents are the seat belts and their fittings, that is the quickest way to move an interior up a step. A more extensive rebuild of the cockpit is handled by other, more extensive sets.
The aerobatic Zlin has a narrow cockpit with large glazing and the seat is practically fully visible on a finished model. Harnesses molded into plastic look flat and are several times too thick in scale. Etched belts are as thin as foil, can be bent over the edge of the seat cushion and left to fall onto the cockpit floor, so the cockpit stops looking empty. The steel form of the etching does not spring back flat after bending: a fold stays where you make it and does not have to be fixed with glue.
The work is short but fine. Separate the part with a scalpel on glass, bend the buckles with tweezers or in a bending tool, shape the belt itself over a round tool and finally tack it in place with super glue dosed from a pin. Do not worry about paint, as the parts are pre-painted; if their sheen differs from the surrounding interior, a light pass of matte varnish will even it out. You will make the work much easier by gluing the belts onto the seat before the fuselage is closed.
