A set of cut masking pieces of kabuki paper for a model of the F-14D carrier fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy with a crew of two and a variable-sweep wing. The F-14D version was the last and most modern form of the whole family. A long one-piece canopy runs above the cockpit with pronounced framing, and it is exactly that which makes the most work when building a model: masking it with tape strip by strip means an hour spent over a tiny frame.
Pre-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper for a model in 1:72 scale. Kabuki paper is thin and pliable and adapts even to a slightly convex canopy, while on removal it leaves no sticky film on the clear parts. The extent of the set, and which F-14D kit the masks are cut for, is given in the manufacturer's data.
Wash and degrease the clear parts first; on a greasy surface a mask will not hold. Lift the individual pieces off the sheet with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, lay them along the frame and press them down with a wooden stick so that paint cannot get under the edge. In a small scale the masks really are tiny, so allow for a steady hand and good light. Spray at right angles and in thin coats, and never aim at the edge of a mask from the side. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has set.
For a modeler who builds the Tomcat in 1:72 scale and wants crisp canopy framing without lengthy work with tape. The aircraft kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
