1:48 Paint mask I-16 is a set of paint masks for the model of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an aid for spraying the glazing cleanly.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item belongs among modeling aids; do not look in it for an aircraft to glue together. It serves to cover the glazing and selected areas temporarily while you apply the camouflage or paint in the frames of the cockpit. The reward is sharp boundaries between shades without laborious tracing by brush and without lengthy cutting of tape with a knife. The kit whose shapes the cut is derived from can be told from the abbreviation in the name.
This Soviet single-seat fighter of the mid-1930s was among the first production low-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear. You will recognize it at first glance by its barrel-like fuselage, strikingly short wings and the radial engine at the front. It saw action in the Spanish Civil War, over Khalkhin Gol and in the first months of the fighting in 1941, when it was already losing ground against newer types. For a modeler it is rewarding precisely because of its unmistakable silhouette.
Degrease the glazing first and let it dry completely. Transfer the individual shapes onto a clean surface, press the edges down carefully so that nothing runs under them, and rather spray several thin coats than one heavy one. Take the covering off shortly after it has dried, while the coat is still flexible. That reduces the risk of tearing the edge of the paint off along with the strip.
