A masking set for painting the model of the Japanese Aichi D3A1 Type 99 carrier dive bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Aichi D3A1, listed under the designation Type 99, was a Japanese carrier dive bomber of the beginning of the war in the Pacific. You will recognize it by its fixed landing gear with spatted wheels and by its rounded wings with elliptical tips; the crew consisted of two men. It operated from the decks of aircraft carriers and it is among the types that modelers associate with the first months of the fighting in the Pacific.
This is a masking set for painting a model in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut to shape, so there is no need to cut tape on the part itself and the edge of the paint comes out the same width along its whole length. On this type the masking concerns mainly the long glazed cockpit with its many frames, where cutting by hand is lengthy and the result uneven. The exact extent of the set is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and dry surface. Transfer the small parts with tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick along their whole length. Apply the paint perpendicular to the surface and in thin coats; an angled spray runs under the edge and the line blurs. Take the mask off shortly after the coat has dried, with a pull at an angle to the side. Mask the glazing before you start with the primer coat, so that the frames come out in the same color as the surrounding surface.
The package contains a masking set. The kit, paints and thinner are not included, unless stated otherwise.
