1:48 TF-104G Starfighter double-sided express fit mask from Art Scale masks the glazing of the two-seat Starfighter from the outside and from the inside. Intended for the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The double-sided variant of the TF-104G Starfighter express fit mask set contains shapes for both faces of the glazing. The inner parts make it possible to spray the frames from inside the cockpit as well, so that once the build is finished there is no view through the clear parts onto bare plastic. This difference shows above all on a model with the canopy slid back. The target kit is Kinetic.
The Starfighter was created as a light and extremely fast interceptor, and its two-seat trainer conversion served for decades in a number of European countries. On it the cabin is drawn out to the rear and more frames were added, which made the masking more laborious than on the single-seat version. And yet the cockpit cannot be hidden on a model; it is the dominant feature of the whole build.
Start with the inner side: seat the part, spray the interior color, let it dry and only then glue the canopy to the fuselage. The outer masks come in turn together with the airframe camouflage. Between the individual steps always check against the light whether the film is lifting at an edge anywhere. Adhesive residue after removal comes off with a cloth moistened in soapy water. If you are building the cockpit closed, the inner shapes can at least be used on the upper part of the canopy, where the view inside is sharpest. Save the work for a time when you have peace and quiet; small parts forgive little.
