The real subject

The T-34 was not built in a single form. Several factories built the machine in parallel and each of them brought its own practices to it, so the tanks differed in the shape of the turret, in the small fittings of the hull and in where and how the equipment was stowed. Factory number 112 in Gorky, known under the name Krasnoye Sormovo, was among the largest producers, and its machines are recognized by exactly such details. A tow cable was part of the basic equipment of every tank and came into play whenever a machine bogged down or a damaged vehicle had to be towed away.

Building and painting tips

Remove the original cables from the kit carefully, so that the attachment eyes on the hull are left undamaged. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off, then wash and degrease the parts and choose the glue according to their material. A steel cable suits a dark metallic shade with traces of rust where it rubs against the hull. Check the stowage of the cable against photographs of machines from the same factory, as it differed between producers.
