The real subject

The T-34/85 is the late version of the Soviet medium tank which, from 1944, you recognize by its larger turret with a gun of 85 mm caliber and with room for a three-man crew in the turret. A tow cable was part of the equipment of every such vehicle. The crew used it to get out of mud and snow, to pull damaged vehicles out of range and to help one another in a column. The cable was carried right on the hull, secured along the sides or at the rear, and it had eyes at the ends that were slipped over hooks.

Building and painting tips

First lay the cable on the model dry and only then deal with the length and the attachment. Lead the bend smoothly, so that the cable lies naturally and does not stick up into the air anywhere. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, choose the glue according to the material of the parts and check the actual procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. In color the cable sets itself apart from the hull rewardingly: a dark steel shade, a dark wash into the lay of the strands and a fine hint of corrosion and dust along the edges.
