Tow cables for models of the Soviet IS-1, IS-2 and IS-3 heavy tanks in 1:35 scale. Equipment that the machines carried right on the hull.
Responsibility details are not available.
The IS series closes the development of Soviet heavy tanks of the Second World War. The IS-1 was given an 85 mm gun, the IS-2 already aimed at heavy targets with a 122 mm gun, and the IS-3 came at the end of the war with a low hull ending in a wedge and with a rounded turret. All three machines share a great weight and, with it, the worry of recovery. A tow cable therefore lay right on the hull, to hand for the crew as well as for the tank behind it.
The set adds tow cables to models of the IS-1, IS-2 and IS-3 in 1:35 scale. You choose the placing according to the subject: along the sides of the hull, at the rear by the attachment points, or loose across a fender beside the rest of the carried equipment.
Try the stowage dry before you glue anything, and only then work out the length. A cable should lie on the hull smoothly, without sharp kinks. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part, sand the remainder off and wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and check the exact procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. In color, a dark steel base, a wash into the lay of the strands and fine dust where the cable rests on the plate work well, so that it stands apart from the base shade of the tank.
For modelers who are building Soviet heavy tanks in 1:35 scale and want to add carried equipment to the hull. The set is an accessory to a kit; paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
