This conversion set from the Plusmodel brand adds the American T1E1 device, that is an assembly of heavy discs carried on arms ahead of the nose, to an already built vehicle. It is prepared specifically for the kit of the recovery vehicle on a Sherman chassis from the Italeri company. The same mine exploder is also made in a second rendition, cut for a kit from another brand, so watch this detail when ordering: the mounting dimensions differ between the two versions.
The idea was simple. Discs threaded onto a common axle rolled ahead of the vehicle and set off pressure-fuzed mines by their own weight before the tracks reached the dangerous spot. The assembly was so heavy that it moved at walking pace and in rougher ground was practically impossible to control; it got the nickname Earthworm from the furrows it left behind in the soil. It was therefore used only to prepare lanes, not for ordinary movement.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before gluing and let them dry thoroughly. Dry-fit the arms and the axle and check that the roller sits on the centerline of the vehicle: a crookedly set disc assembly is noticed at once in a finished display case. The joints hold with cyanoacrylate glue; roughen the surface first. For painting, a base in a steel shade works well, with a thin layer of earth over it and dry brushing on the edges of the discs.
