Exotic Decals devoted this set to the British twin-engined bomber whose serial Z1277, according to the name, ended up in foreign hands. The decals complete a finished Wellington model; the kit itself is sold separately. The subject chosen is one of those that do not appear in ordinary boxed sets.
The Wellington owed its reputation as a tough aircraft to the geodetic structure designed by Barnes Wallis. A lattice of light sections took even extensive hits, because the neighboring bays of the structure took over the load. The crews called the aircraft nothing but the Wimpy. The Mk.IV version differed from the others in having American Twin Wasp radial engines instead of British units, and it served among other things with squadrons manned in Britain by Polish airmen.
The large fuselage markings of a bomber seat better on a damp gloss surface, on which the motif can still be moved for a while. The carrier film on large pieces is prone to rippling, so push the air out gradually from the middle outward. Over riveted seams, light pricking with a pin and a drop of softener will help the decal settle into the relief instead of arching above it.
