1:48 Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero landing flaps is an Eduard photo-etched set that replaces the molded landing flaps of the Japanese fighter with thin metal parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic flaps with thin metal parts, so that the model can be built with the flaps lowered and the inner structure revealed. At this scale a molded flap tends to be several times thicker than scale would allow, and seen from behind that shows at once. It is a full photo-etched set from the brand Eduard.
The A6M carrier fighter was famous for its agility and its range, helped by a light structure with a large wing area. The A6M5 version was given a shorter wing with fixed tips and strengthened skin, which allowed a higher speed in a dive. The flaps helped on landing on the short deck of a carrier, where every knot of speed counted. The high-lift devices of the wing were among the finest structural assemblies on this machine.
First cut the plastic flaps away and sand their seating in the wing flat. Bend the metal parts gradually in small steps, so that no kink is formed. Use thin super glue applied with a wire to fix them. On Japanese machines the inner surfaces tend to be in a different shade from the skin; check that against the references for your own model.
The delivery holds only photo-etched parts, without a model and without paints.
