The Grumman E-2C Hawkeye is an American carrier-borne airborne early warning aircraft. Its unmistakable mark is the large rotating disc-shaped radome carried above the fuselage on struts. So that the machine fits into the hangar of an aircraft carrier, it has a low, wide tail section with four vertical surfaces, and the wing folds back along the fuselage. Inside the fuselage a crew of operators worked at their screens, so the inside is not an empty shell.
A photo-etched metal fret in 1:72 scale from Eduard's production. Photo-etching suits exactly what catches the eye on this machine: thin edges, grilles, loops and small panels, which always come out of plastic thicker than the scale would have them. Which parts the fret holds, where they are fitted and which Hawkeye kit the set is designed for are given in the manufacturer's instructions; the order of work follows them as well.
Cut the tab holding a part with a sharp blade against a hard surface; never snap a part off. Make the bends along the etched score line and draw them home with a straight edge or in a bending tool, so that they come out the same along their whole length. They are bonded with super glue in a tiny amount. Before painting, degrease the metal and lay down a primer for metal; with light naval shades that pays off twice over, because metal shows through a thin coat of paint.
The package holds a photo-etched fret according to the manufacturer's listing. The kit, the paints, the glue and the decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
