A pigment in a brick dust shade for finishing work on models, dioramas and figures.
Responsibility details are not available.
Brick dust is a shade that is hard to mix from basic colors: it is orange-brown, matte and slightly dirtied. It comes into its own wherever brick masonry and its remains are involved, that is on rubble after a hit, on the wheels of a vehicle that has driven through a wrecked village, or on the underside of a chassis and on fenders.
The pigment is a fine dry powder. You pick it up with a soft brush and rub it into the surface, and it holds best on rough and matte places; on gloss varnish it slides off. Work in small doses and tap the excess away, because taking some off is always easier than adding more color. You can lighten or mute the shade before applying it by mixing it with other pigments. Apply less to vertical surfaces than to horizontal ones, because in nature dust settles from above and an even dusting of the whole model looks untrue.
Unfixed pigment can be wiped away at any time, which is useful while you look for the right degree of soiling. Once you are happy with the result, fix it with a product intended for the purpose, following the manufacturer's instructions. Fixing usually darkens the shade slightly, so count on that and apply rather less than you want to see on the finished model. A fixed model can then be touched and carried without worry.
The package contains the pigment. The fixing product, paints, brushes and models are sold separately, unless stated otherwise.
