Double-sided Art Scale masks for the DB-7B Boston III in 1:48 contain shapes for the outer and the inner side of the glazing and stencils for the wheels.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boston has a glazed nose and a divided pilot's canopy, so masking is among the most time-consuming steps of a build. The set contains die-cut self-adhesive shapes for both sides of the transparent parts and complements them with stencils for the wheels. It is prepared by the Czech maker Art Scale Kit.
The designation DB-7B was carried by the export version of the Douglas originally intended for France, which the Royal Air Force took over after the fall of the country under the name Boston III. The machines served with light bomber squadrons and attacked ports, power stations and industrial targets over the occupied mainland, usually from medium altitudes and in close cooperation with the fighter escort. Bostons also laid a smoke screen during the landing at Dieppe and proved themselves as fast, well handling aircraft with sufficient defensive fire. The glazed nose gave the navigator an excellent view and is today a prominent feature of every model of this type.
Begin with the inner shapes and the shade of the frames in the interior, then seat the glazing and add the outer stencils. Leave the transitions between the upper and the lower color softer, as that matches the finishes of the period. Take the films off as soon as possible and remove any residue of adhesive with a cloth lightly moistened with alcohol.
Only masks are part of the delivery, not plastic parts or paints.
