A single-sided mask for the Spitfire Mk.XVIe in 1:32 scale is cut self-adhesive film for the glazing and the wheels of the large kit of this machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
Cut film from the Art Scale brand replaces the laborious lining out of frames with tape. The single-sided designation means that the parts cover the glazing only from the outside; a double-sided version of the same aircraft, which also masks the inside of the cockpit, is available separately. For most builds with a closed canopy this simpler variant is enough.
The Mk.XVIe differs from the late Mk.IX in something you will not notice at first glance: its Merlin engine was made under license by an American car manufacturer, and the designation of the aircraft changed precisely because of the origin of the powerplant. Production machines were given a clipped wing for better agility at low level, heavier armament with two cannon, and the late batches also a teardrop canopy with a cut-down rear fuselage. These machines stayed in the armament of the Royal Air Force for years after the war.
First free the glazing of fingerprints, lift the parts off the backing with pointed tweezers and lay them on starting from the smallest frame. Press them down with a wooden stick, not with a fingernail. Spray the interior color first, then the primer and finally the top shade, so that no step of paint forms under the mask. Take the film off while the varnish is still fresh.
