Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet covers Hawker Hurricane Mk.I fighter aircraft in the equipment of No. 310 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The printing is prepared for 1:144 scale, where the whole machine becomes a miniature barely five centimeters long. The markings are applied to a model that is already built and painted.
The squadron was formed in July 1940 at Duxford airfield as the very first Czechoslovak fighter unit in Britain. Its pilots had the retreat from France behind them and came to both the new machine and the language on the move, yet they joined the fighting as early as August. They flew as part of the so-called Duxford Wing, that is a large formation of several squadrons that took off against German formations over the Thames estuary. After the Battle of Britain the unit re-equipped with Spitfires and held on to the end of the war.
The machines of 1940 wore a two-color camouflage in dark brown and dark green on the upper surfaces, and the underside tended to be light. That is exactly why it pays to lay a gloss intermediate coat under the printing, otherwise the film will crease on a matte surface and the edge will go white. Once the markings are dry, a light matte overcoat is enough and the model gains a uniform look.
