Wheel bay covers for the Spitfire Mk.XIV/Mk.XVIII 1:48

This is a masking aid, not a part of a model. The set holds shaped plugs of soft foam (EVA) that fit exactly into the wheel and landing gear bays of a model of the late Spitfire Mk.XIV and Mk.XVIII fighter in 1:48 scale. During spraying they reliably close off the deep hollows of the bays and stop paint getting inside.

Use

  • You simply press the foam plugs into the bays before painting; no glue is needed
  • Once the coat is on you take them out without damaging the detail or the finish inside
  • The foam is springy, adapts to the shape of the hollow and sits without leaving residue
  • The plugs can be used repeatedly for further builds

Who they are for

The aid will be appreciated by anyone who wants fast and clean masking of the wheel bays without laborious work with tape or washing out dried paint. The plugs are matched specifically to the geometry of the Spitfire versions given in 1:48 scale.
