The set from MH models covers the framing of the canopy and the other clear areas of the Lockheed P-38 model from Revell in the J and L variants. The masks are pre-cut to the shape of the individual panes, so when spraying it is enough to stick them on and peel them off.
The P-38 had a cockpit made up of a large number of flat panes in a dense frame, and glazed areas at the nose of the central nacelle as well. Covering such an area by hand with strips of tape takes hours and uneven edges are found in it all the same. A pre-cut mask holds the shape exactly according to the mold of the particular model, thanks to which the frame stays evenly wide and the glass stays clean. In a large scale this difference is visible at first glance, because the cockpit here dominates the whole model.
The surface of the glazing has to be dry and free of grease from fingers. Lift the mask off the sheet with tweezers, seat it in the middle of the pane and press the edges down with a toothpick or a blunt stick, so that paint does not creep under them. Spray in several thin layers, the first of them only lightly, so that it seals the edge. Remove the mask while the paint is still fresh, that is, within a few hours of spraying; later there is a risk of a layer of the finish breaking away too.
The package contains only the masks, not the aircraft model or paints.
