Masks for the glazing, wheel rims and radio-transparent covers of the carrier fighter Su-33 Flanker-D in 1:48 scale. Two sheets, the inner and the outer side of the canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
The cockpit canopy of the carrier fighter Su-33 is intricate and has more thin frames than can comfortably be masked by hand. The set covers them from the inside and the outside, adds the rims of the landing gear wheels and the areas of the antenna covers, which on the real aircraft have a different shade from the surrounding skin.
The designers derived the Su-33 from the Su-27 for service on an aircraft carrier. A folding wing, strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook and forward horizontal surfaces were added, which improved the machine's behavior during a slow approach to the deck. The span remained considerable even with the wings folded, so on deck the type took up more space than its western counterparts. Aircraft of this type formed the strike core of the Russian carrier group, and the deployment over Syria remained one of the few moments when they got into live action.
This is fine insignia work: the individual parts are taken with tweezers and laid one at a time. The inner masks come first, so that the frames take the color of the interior; after drying the canopy is closed and masking is done from the outside. The thin masking tape holds even on curved areas and comes off without residue. It pays to press the edges down with a toothpick before spraying, so that paint does not run under them. Leave the wheel rims until the end, as otherwise it is easy to scratch them while handling.
