A masking set, not a model of an aircraft. This set of precisely cut masks serves for spraying the characteristic pattern of RAM panels (radar absorbing material) on the naval version of the F-35C Lightning II fighter in 1:32 scale. On the real aircraft these panels have a slightly different shade and orientation from the surrounding surface; the masks let you spray them sharply and symmetrically instead of measuring them out laboriously. The set is prepared for the F-35C kit from Trumpeter and it covers the upper and lower surfaces of the fuselage, the wings and the tail surfaces.
The F-35C is the carrier variant of the Lightning II for aircraft carriers: it has a larger wing with folding tips, strengthened landing gear and a tailhook. Dividing the surface into panels of radar-absorbent materials is typical of stealth machines, and it is exactly their fine difference in color that gives a model a faithful, technical look.
