1:32 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb Numbers and Insignia Paint Mask Set contains two sheets of masks, which replace the marking decals of the large Hurricane kit. Intended for the Revell 04968 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets of cut masks stand in for most of the marking that is supplied with the Hurricane Mk.IIb kit in 1:32 scale in the form of decals. These are the roundels, the code letters and the numbers, that is, the elements whose size on a model with a span of over thirty centimeters no longer forgives even a slight imprecision. The set is intended for the Revell 04968 kit.
A large-area decal is laid over the ribbed side of the Hurricane only with difficulty and its edge likes to give itself away on a matte finish. Applied paint, by contrast, has the thickness of a coat, follows the texture of the surface and when weathering it ages at the same rate as the area around it.
The Hawker Hurricane was the first British monoplane fighter with retractable landing gear, and in the Battle of Britain it shot down more machines than all the other types put together. The Mk.IIb version received a more powerful Merlin engine of the 20 series and extended armament of twelve machine guns of 7.7 mm caliber in the wing. The construction with a tubular framework and a fabric covering of the rear part of the fuselage was easily repaired right at the unit, which in the first years of the war made it an exceptionally practical tool even at less well equipped bases.
The contents of the package are only masks; the kit is sold separately.
