A double-sided masking set 1:48 for the glazing of the historic Junkers F 13 transport aircraft. It holds shapes for the outer and the inner face of the windows, so the frames come out clean from both views.

The Junkers F 13 is usually described as the first production transport aircraft of all-metal construction. Corrugated duralumin sheet, a cantilever wing and an enclosed cabin for four passengers were exceptional for their day, while the pilot at first sat in an open position. The machine was sold all over the world, flew on floats and on skis, and stayed in service deep into the 1930s.
The designation double-sided means that the sheet carries shapes for the outer and the inner surface of the glazing. There is a practical reason for that: with coverage from outside only, paint gets inside while the interior is being sprayed and the frames take on a random color from within. With a set for both surfaces a window comes out clean from both sides.
On a machine with a corrugated surface the remnants of the carrier sheet come in handy as well. They help set the boundary between the metal finish and a colored stripe on the fuselage without your having to bend tape over every corrugation of the sheet and watch whether it is standing off anywhere.
Machines of this type flew in the colors of dozens of carriers and the schemes differed a great deal from one another, from bare metal to pronounced stripes and lettering along the fuselage. The choice is therefore wide and the set does not tie it down at all; it only sees to it that the windows stay clear and the frames get a straight edge.
