The book Koprivnicke tanky, written by R. Zavadil and J. Spitalsky, is devoted according to its subtitle to a less known chapter from the history of the Tatra car works. It comes out in the range of the Jakab publishing house, which has long focused on the history of transport and military equipment. The title thereby joins two subjects that are usually written about separately: the past of one industrial enterprise and the development of combat equipment.
Koprivnice ranks among the oldest centers of vehicle production in central Europe; carriages were built here long before the first automobiles came into being. In the public mind the local enterprise is associated above all with trucks, with air-cooled engines and with the backbone chassis. That armored combat equipment was also worked out in its workshops and drawing offices is known to few, and it is precisely at this line that the subtitle of the book is aimed.
The publication will be appreciated by anyone interested in the history of Czechoslovak industry and military equipment and by collectors of literature on domestic engineering who are missing a title like this on the shelf. For modelers it can serve as a reference on a subject for which continuous information is hard to find.
