Markings of Hungarian military aircraft from the eight-year period after 1990 in 1:48 scale.

The year 1990 brought a change of the symbol the machines had worn for the whole of the preceding four decades. The new form of the insignia lasted until the end of the 1990s and is bound up with the period when the army was reorienting toward western standards but was still flying machines of eastern manufacture. That combination makes the subjects of those years a rewarding modeling theme.
The sheet is put together so as to cover both components of the markings: the insignia itself in several sizes and with it numeral sets for the fuselage. A modeler therefore does not have to combine elements from two different sheets and risk the printed shades not matching.
With Hungarian equipment the dating is crucial. The same type of aircraft appeared within a few years in two completely different forms of marking, so a model built from a photograph from the start of the 1990s needs a different set than the same machine a decade later. The range given in the name settles this problem unambiguously.
If the build rests on a shot from a parade or an exercise, it is worth comparing the position of the insignia too: after the change it moved closer to the cockpit on some types, and merely covering the old position would show through on the model.
