The strut-braced high-wing aircraft from the Henschel firm did not end up only with the home reconnaissance flights. It was exported, went through its combat baptism in Spain and a few examples were acquired by smaller European armies, which found a low-cost and undemanding machine able to take off from a grass surface useful. In foreign colors it therefore looks quite different from the gray-green camouflage a modeler is used to.
The design banked on reliability, not on performance. The fixed landing gear did not have to retract, the strut under the wing stood up to rough handling and the open station of the observer gave a view downward, which with photography and directing fire was the main thing. The radial engine could be adjusted under field conditions and made do with maintenance a small ground crew could manage.
The decals are applied onto a finished and varnished model; the plastic parts themselves are not in the package. Different markings also mean a different camouflage scheme, so it is sensible to choose the variant before spraying the paint and not after it. Foreign users often painted the original shades over in a hurry, which can be suggested by a blurred transition and a base showing through.
The letter in the designation of the version refers to the export form. In its equipment and its engine it differed from the home version, but in the silhouette of a model the difference is slight.
It pays to keep the unused part of the sheet. Small technical lettering and warning markings will serve on further builds from the same period as well, where the original decals have yellowed or tore during application.
