A kit of the German four-axle flatcar of standardized construction in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The postwar German railways inherited and went on developing a type line of flatcars on two bogies, whose main asset was a low load floor and a capacity in the order of tens of tons. It was precisely such cars that carried armored vehicles, artillery tractors, construction machines and oversized steelworks products, because an ordinary two-axle flatcar was not enough for burdens like that.
The line was originally carried under the home designation Ssy 45. After the unified international marking of freight cars took hold in Europe, it was given the code Rlmmp 700; both designations therefore belong to the same car and in modeling literature they are used side by side. The word Regelbauart in the name means that this is a standardized, series-built construction and not a special order.
The load floor gives the most work. It pays to paint the planks in individual strips in shades that differ slightly, and only then to unify the whole with a glaze; a uniformly painted deck gives a model away at first glance. The bogies, the draw gear and the footboards are small and brittle, so it is better to cut them off only just before fitting. If you are preparing a load for the car, reckon with a heavy metal model of an armored vehicle needing chocking under its wheels, otherwise it slides on the smooth deck. Rust and grease around the bearings will give a scene a credibility that paint alone will never provide, and the same goes for the lime dust caught in the corners of the frame.
