The red Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 in 1:64. A modern tribute to the wedge of the 1970s, built around a twelve-cylinder completed by an electric motor, in a finished metal form.
Responsibility details are not available.
In 1971 Geneva was astonished by the LP 500 concept, and the marque from Sant'Agata set out with it in a direction that determined the shape of supercars for two decades. Exactly half a century later came the reminder: the LPI 800-4 takes over the wedge silhouette, the edges around the fenders and the wide side intakes, but puts them together from today's shapes and materials. Only one hundred twelve examples were built and all of them were sold before the car managed to be shown to the public.
The letter I in the designation stands for ibrido, that is hybrid. A naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder of 6.5 liters is completed by an electric motor fed by a supercapacitor instead of an ordinary battery, which saves weight and returns the energy quickly. The figures refer to the output of the system and to the number of driven wheels.
The deep red is the color in which the car was photographed most often, and on a compact body you see all of it at once. The sharp edges of the wedge break in it into pronounced lines of light that a matte or dark paint would never show.
The miniature is cast from metal, completed with plastic small parts and rubber tires, and is supplied in a finished state. Next to the original Countach of the 1980s it forms an impressive pair, on which it is plain to see what modern designers took from the original shape and what, on the contrary, they changed completely. Anyone who collects by marque gets one of the most striking items of recent years.
