The square-cut British off-road vehicle in the long wheelbase and in the glazed Station Wagon version, painted in the Russet Brown shade. A metal model, 1:64.
Responsibility details are not available.
The square silhouette of the British off-road vehicle has changed only in details since the 1950s. The long-wheelbase 110 inch version was given coil springs instead of leaf springs in 1983 and thereby moved from a purely working machine toward usability on the road. The Defender name was added several years later, when the brand needed to set the utility line apart from a newly arrived sibling.
The County designation belonged to the better equipped examples. Station Wagon means a glazed body with windows in the roof as well, seats for a whole family and cloth upholstery instead of bare sheet metal. The combination of the two turned a working tool into a vehicle you could drive both on holiday and into a field.
The Russet Brown shade belongs to the brand's period colors and comes out on the square body with sharp transitions between the surfaces. The miniature reproduces the straight flanks, the sill pressings, the roof gutter and the typical spare wheel. The model is not assembled; it is finished and painted.
Utility vehicles make a pleasant counterpoint to supercars in 1:64 collections. Next to low bodies a tall off-road machine looks unusual, and in a diorama it will serve as an accompanying vehicle.
Utility and off-road vehicles have one more advantage over supercars: the colors tend to be muted, so a shelf does not fall apart into a collection of garish blots. Brown, green and sand complement one another. The long wheelbase also means that this piece takes up somewhat more room than a passenger car of the same scale.
