The Lincoln Capri of 1954 converted into a hot rod, in the Shadow Puppet color form of 2024. A metal casting in 1:64 in a hanging blister.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lincoln Capri was built from 1952 and in the American range it represented the luxury step above the Mercury brand. The 1954 model year had a Y-block eight-cylinder with an output of around two hundred horses, a weight of over two tons and a look that today seems like a caricature of postwar optimism: chrome, massive fenders and a grille across the whole width of the car.
At the same time this car has a sporting past that few would look for in it. From 1952 to 1954 Lincolns of this type ruled the production car category in the Mexican Carrera Panamericana race and beat even considerably lighter European competition there. The factory preparation of the cars was led at the time by Bill Stroppe.
The model captures the hot rod version: a lowered chassis, a modified roofline and the dark color form that was given the name Shadow Puppet. It came about as a joint project of the maker and the collector partner MIZU Diecast in 2024.
The scale of 1:64 gives a length of around eight centimeters, because the subject is over five meters long. The body is metal, the chassis plastic, the wheels turning and shod in rubber. The model is finished and calls for no finishing off. It is supplied in hanging blister packaging, as stated in the name.
American cars of the 1950s appear less often in small scales than Japanese and European coupes, so this piece stands out in a collection by its proportions alone: it is longer, wider and taller than most of its neighbors on a shelf.
