The square-cut Chevrolet Silverado in a two-color retro conversion from Kaido House. A metal model in 1:64 with an opening hood.
Responsibility details are not available.
The subject is a Chevrolet of the generation that in America is called the square body and that was built from the middle of the 1970s to the second half of the 1980s. Silverado was then the name of the top equipment level, not of the model: chrome strips, two-color paint and cloth seats in the cab. It is precisely these features that are coming back into fashion today among collectors and restorers.
The Vintage Spec conversion bets on a combination of brown and cream divided by a horizontal line, completed with wheels in a period style and a lowered chassis. The designer conceived it as a vehicle that in the 1980s would have carried parts between a Japanese tuning garage and a racetrack, so there is no shortage of room for a load on the bed.
The model is metal, with a separately inserted interior, glazing of clear plastic and rubber tires. The front hood lifts and reveals the engine compartment. The goods are finished; nothing is glued. In a cardboard box with a window they can be stored as well, when you are not displaying the model. Square-cut pickups of this era are going through a second wave of popularity among converters today, which explains why they appear even in collector's lines otherwise aimed at the Japanese scene.
