Foam wheel bay mask for the Curtiss P-40 (1:48, Art Scale)

A set of shaped foam masks for the wheel bays of a model of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter (the Warhawk and Tomahawk versions) in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit nor a self-adhesive film but flexible foam inserts that are pressed into the already painted wheel bays before spraying and keep paint from flowing inside.

The real subject

The Curtiss P-40 was one of the main American fighters of the early Second World War, known under both the Warhawk and Tomahawk names. Its landing gear retracted into the wing and its bays are worth protecting while the underside is painted.

Use

• Paint the bays and let them dry.
• Press the foam mask into the bay so that it fills it completely.
• Spray the underside and the landing gear covers, then take the insert out.
• The mask can be used over and over.

For modelers who want quick, clean protection of the inside of the bays without laborious masking with tape. The insert is shaped to fit a particular kit of this type in the chosen scale.
