A plastic kit of the mobile suit carried under the name Gundam Raphael. It belongs to the Gundam plastic model line, that is among the kits of robotic machines from this world. The finished model is a display piece in which the silhouette and the cleanliness of the surface are what count; on a shelf it shows well in a group with other machines of a similar size.
Work in the order the instructions give. With joint assemblies what goes in first is what counts, and taking a finished joint apart without damage may no longer be possible. Separate the parts with flat-bladed nippers a little way from the part and level the remainder with a knife afterwards; a part snapped off leaves a dimple behind. Put small parts down in a dish, not on the desktop. Try the assembly dry so you know how the joint will seat.
Before painting, wash the plastic in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry, as grease from fingers would otherwise lift the paint. Apply the paint in thin coats; one heavy coat fills the engraved lines on the surface and the model looks soft afterwards. Those lines are exactly what is worth accentuating with a fine tip, because they give a large machine a sense of scale. Stand the finished model out of direct sunlight, as ultraviolet light yellows plastic over time and faded colors cannot be put right afterwards. Lift dust off with a soft brush; a cloth catches on thin projections.
