30MS Option Body Parts Type A03 (Color C)

Body parts as building material

Body sets change a figure from the ground up. While a hair part deals with the head alone, this group of parts offers replacement sections of the torso and limbs from which a character of a different shape and a different coloring can be put together. The designation Type A03 defines the particular cut, while the letter C after the word Color gives the color version the set is molded in.

What it is suited to

The most common use is simple: to build a second character from the parts beside the one you already have, or to swap only part of the body and get a variant the manufacturer does not make on its own. Mixing parts between sets is in fact the main enjoyment with this series, and the color versions are there for exactly that.

Working with the parts

Nip the sprues gradually, ideally only at the moment you need the part. Clean up the remnants of the sprue gates on the edges of joints carefully, otherwise the joint binds and wears unnecessarily. Fine surfaces are better sanded dry with very fine paper; a coarser grit leaves marks on small parts which can then only be hidden by a coat of paint.

What to watch out for

The base figure is not included, and without it the parts remain merely a set of sections. So make sure you have the model you want to fit them into. The color version C need not match the shade of another set exactly, as even a slight difference in tone is visible once assembled, and it is worth comparing them against the illustrations. Keep the unused sections along with the instructions; they come in useful in a later rebuild.
