The GIG-R01 Provedel science fiction kit

A plastic science fiction kit carried under the designation GIG-R01 Provedel with the addition Type-REX 01. The model is supplied unassembled, so you put it together yourself.

What the build involves

The parts are separated from their carriers, cleaned up and joined into a whole according to the enclosed instructions. With science fiction kits the procedure is the same as with models of real machinery: first offer the parts up dry, check how they fit into one another, and only then join them for good. It pays to work in the order the instructions give, because a part once glued can generally no longer be taken off without damage.

Building and painting tips

• Separate the parts with a sharp blade or nippers a little way from the part, then sand the remainder down after separating.
• Go through the whole of the instructions before you begin, so you know what is assembled inside before the outside.
• Wash and degrease the surface before painting; paint does not hold on greasy plastic.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, as heavy application fills the fine edges and molded detail.
• Leave the sections that are meant to stay movable or to come apart unglued, and paint them separately.

The finished model suits a display case, where it is good to protect it from dust and direct sunlight so the colors do not fade.
