Volume number 130 of the English-language Warpaint series by Nikolay Yakubovich, devoted to the Soviet front-line bomber Ilyushin Il-28.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ilyushin Il-28 was a Soviet front-line bomber of the late 1940s and one of the first machines of its class with jet propulsion to reach large-scale production. It was powered by a pair of turbojet engines in nacelles by the wing, its crew was three men and the tail was protected by a defensive turret with cannon armament. The glazed nose belonged to the navigator, who aimed at the target from there. The machine spread to a number of countries and served for many decades in training and reconnaissance forms, among others with the Czechoslovak Air Force, which makes it a close subject for Czech modelers.
The publication came out as number 130 of the Warpaint series. That series is monographic: one volume keeps to one type and ties a continuous text to period photographs and a picture section. The author is Nikolay Yakubovich and the text is in English. For building a model the most useful part is the pictures, because they show the machine in its working state, that is with the equipment, the markings and the wear that a kit simplifies.
For modelers building one of the versions of the Il-28, and for readers with an interest in the beginnings of jet bomber aviation. This is a printed publication; a model, decals and building material are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
