Hex bolts 0.5 mm for models of machinery

An add-on set of small hex heads for models, listed under the bulletproof designation according to the name. The size of the part is 0.5 mm, that is the finest dimension of this family. It is intended as an accessory for models of machinery.

What it is for

Hex hardware is visible practically everywhere on machinery: on hatches, brackets, the mounting of fenders, on gearbox covers and on plates bolted to the load-bearing structure. An injection-molded kit carries such heads only in a shallow relief, and when the seams are sanded it disappears altogether. Separate parts bring the detail back and have a crisp edge that plastic cannot hold at this dimension.

Building tips

• When installing a row of joints, first draw a thin line and measure the spacings out on it, otherwise the row will drift.
• Sand the remains of the original relief on the part smooth, so that the new head seats on a flat surface.
• The 0.5 mm dimension is small, so reckon with fine tweezers and good light.
• Install them only after the seams have been sanded and the surface primed, otherwise you will flood the detail with paint.
• Check the recommended method of fixing in the manufacturer's instructions and meter the glue with the tip of a needle.

Who it is for

For a modeler who is adding missing joints to a machine or replacing the ones lost during sanding. It is an accessory to a kit, not the kit itself.
