Model rivets with a round head, 1.4 mm in size. An accessory for detailing models of machinery and vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
Model rivets with a round head in a single dimension of 1.4 mm. The parts are installed one at a time where a riveted joint is to be genuinely visible on a model.
The round head of a rivet reflects light in a single soft point, whereas the hex head of a bolt has crisp faces and a shadow under the edges. The difference is slight, but the eye recognizes it, and a wrongly used shape gives away that the joint was made after the pattern of another machine. Riveted seams are found on armor plates, on tanks, on lattice girders and on older bodies, where the heads are lined up in a regular row. It is in the regularity that the harder part of the work lies: unequal spacings draw more attention than a missing piece.
Draw the spacings out in advance or stick a strip of masking tape along the intended row, whose edge will serve as a guide. Carry the rivet with fine-tipped tweezers or on the moistened tip of a toothpick and seat it in a shallow pre-drilled recess. It is glued with a minute amount of cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a wire; wipe the surplus off immediately. Painting is simpler before gluing; once installed, a darker shade around the heads and a light lightening of their high points help. Wash and degrease the surface before spraying.
The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer gives the number of pieces in the package.
