A nut with a bolt 1.5 mm in size. Six flats return the light in regular steps, so the joint looks like metal tightened with a wrench.
Responsibility details are not available.
Why do we actually recognize a bolt at first glance? The geometry of the highlight is responsible for the recognition. A round drop returns light in one smooth transition, whereas a hex chops it into flats that light up and go dark according to how you turn the model. The brain reads this interrupted gloss as machined metal, even though the whole surface ends up under a single color.
The size offered here is 1.5 mm and it is a nut complemented by a shank, that is a joint made up of two shapes, not a mere disc.
A molded detail tends to be rounded, because a mold cannot hold a crisp edge. A part set in has no such limitation and an edge stays an edge. The difference shows mainly at the moment when sharper light or a camera flash falls on the model.
Work over a surface with a raised rim, otherwise the part will vanish into the carpet the first time the tweezers slip. Level the surface for the seating so that the nut does not sit crooked, and apply the paint thinly. A thick coat rounds off exactly the edges for which the detail was swapped.
Behind the shape of the head lies a simple requirement. A joint group has to be able to come apart, so it has to stay accessible and has to offer faces for a tool to bear against. That is where the whole characteristic outline we are imitating comes from. A model with a bolt instead of a smooth drop therefore tells not only about the surface but also about the machine having been opened some day.
This reasoning also decides the placing. Fasteners are not sown at random over a surface; they sit where something comes off.
