Miniature imitations of a hex nut with a bolt in the 0.5 to 1.2 mm size range. An accessory for detailing models of machinery and vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
Small imitations of a hex nut with a bolt in the 0.5 to 1.2 mm size range. The part captures the joint from the side where both the nut and the end of the shank passing through it are visible.
A nut with a bolt appears on a real machine anywhere two plates are joined or anything is regularly taken apart: on the feet of hangers, on flanges, on gearbox covers, on frames and on fender brackets. Compared with the bolt head alone this shape also has the protruding end of the shank, so in profile it appears taller and casts a longer shadow. On a model it therefore looks more believable than a merely suggested head, especially in places that can be looked into from the side.
Tip the parts out onto a light surface from which they are easy to pick up with fine-tipped tweezers; an individual part also carries well on the moistened tip of a toothpick. The position is fixed by a shallow recess drilled in advance. It is glued with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate glue on the tip of a wire; wipe the surplus off immediately. It is worth turning the neighboring nuts the same way, so that the faces of the hex reflect the light uniformly, which is seldom the case with hand-tightened joints but looks clean on a model. Painting is easier before gluing; once installed, bringing out the shadow around the nut is enough.
The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer gives the number of pieces and the split of sizes in the package.
