This is an accessory set of figures, not a car model. The box contains three plastic figures of car mechanics in 1:24 scale, that is in the same scale as most classic car kits. The figures are meant to give a finished model scale, a story and a human dimension - the car itself is not part of the set.
The three figures show mechanics at ordinary service work: in work clothes, in poses typical of working on a car, with tools in hand. Figures like these are exactly what moves a static model toward telling a story - the viewer knows at once whether they are looking at a display piece or at a scene from a workshop. They come into their own on civilian car models, on racing cars and in a diorama of a garage, a pit lane or a post-war repair shop.
Glue the figures with liquid cement for plastic and clean up the mold seams carefully before painting - on the face and the hands every trace of flash shows. A base coat (primer) is recommended, ideally in a neutral gray or flesh shade; it makes the work easier and evens out the surface. On the skin a base flesh tone works well, with a brown or reddish-brown wash bringing out the eye sockets, the creases and the folds, and dry-brushing then lighting up the forehead, the nose, the cheekbones and the knuckles. Work clothes take bolder weathering: thinned brown and black washes into the folds, fine oil and dust stains on the knees, the elbows and the forearms. Do details such as eyes, buckles, buttons or lettering on the overalls only at the end, with a fine brush and in good light. Matching the skin tone and the shade of the work clothes across all three figures looks markedly better than painting each one on its own.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
