An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BMD-1 airborne combat vehicle in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the low armored hull, the turret with its gun and the intricate running gear typical of this light vehicle. It is an injection-molded kit with a demanding number of parts; the build involves cutting from the sprues, cleaning up, gluing and painting. Check the exact number of parts and the contents of the box against the manufacturer's information for this item.
The BMD-1 was the first Soviet airborne combat vehicle, brought into service at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s for the airborne forces (VDV). It was designed so that it could be dropped by parachute and give paratroopers armored mobility and firepower immediately after the jump. It carried a 73 mm gun, an anti-tank guided missile and a coaxial machine gun. Thanks to aluminum armor and low weight it was amphibious and air-transportable, at the cost of thinner armor.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and pay attention to the running gear and the road wheels, which should be assembled and painted before the hull is finished. Deal with the interior and the hatches before closing up. After the primer, lay a uniform green on with an airbrush, bring out the engraving with a wash and dust the lower hull and the tracks with pigments for a mud and dust effect.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
