An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian Akula class nuclear attack submarine in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a quickly built model with a small parts count, full-hull and completed by a stand with a nameplate.
The Akula, designated project 971, is a Russian nuclear attack submarine whose first boats entered service in the second half of the 1980s. In its day it was among the quietest Soviet and Russian nuclear submarines, which made it a hard opponent to detect under water. Characteristic are the tall sail and the smooth run of the hull, which the model captures faithfully even in a small scale.
The small 1:700 scale means a smaller parts count and a quick build. Glue the hull with liquid cement for plastic and sand the parting seam carefully, so that the smooth sides look whole. Apply a primer and then matte dark gray to black shades with an airbrush. Bring out the fine panel lines only with a very restrained wash, so that it does not look coarse in a small scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
