An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model represents the upgraded version of the 152 mm 2S19 self-propelled howitzer.
The 2S19 self-propelled howitzer, known by the name Msta-S, combines a tracked chassis derived from main battle tanks with a rotating turret carrying a 152 mm howitzer. It entered service at the end of the 1980s and became the standard artillery platform of its kind. The M2 designation belongs to an upgrade aimed above all at the fire control system and at automating the work of the crew. From the outside the versions differ only in details, which matters during the build mainly for the choice of markings and accessories.
Assemble and fine-tune the running gear before you close the hull up — once glued, it is hard to work between the wheels and the tracks. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, which runs into the joint by capillary action and does not clog a fine casting. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, spray the base shade with an airbrush and then break it up with a lighter overspray from above, so that the model does not look flat. Keep the patina in check: a dark wash into the recesses, gentle highlights on the edges and dust pigments on the lower hull and on the tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
