1:72 A-1J is a set of pre-cut Eduard painting masks for a model of the Skyraider attack aircraft in the A-1J version in 1:72 scale. It serves to mask the glazing before spraying and is not a set of decals.

Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the clear parts of a model of the A-1J Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. The package contains shaped masks that stick straight onto the clear part; the cockpit framing is then sprayed together with the rest of the airframe and once the masks are removed the glass stays clean. Watch the versions: this set is cut for the A-1J, while for the A-1H the manufacturer offers a separate item. The glazing differs between the individual versions, so the masks are not freely interchangeable.
The individual parts of the masks are die-cut in a carrier film: you peel them off with tweezers and transfer them to the model. Degrease the glazing first and let it dry, otherwise a mask will not hold and the paint will seep underneath. Lay the segments so that they line up with the engraved framing and press them down around the whole perimeter with a soft tool or a toothpick. On strongly curved canopies the masks are laid in sections and the edge is trimmed with a new blade along the outline if needed. Cover the rest of the model with ordinary masking tape or with masking fluid.
A proven procedure is to spray the edge of the mask first with the interior color, so that any seepage blends with the inside of the cockpit. Apply the outer shade in thin coats; a heavy application creates a ridge at the edge of the mask that is torn off along with the paint during removal. Remove the masks while the finish is freshly dry: lift a corner with tweezers and pull them off slowly at a sharp angle. Wipe any remains of adhesive off with a cotton bud and a little alcohol, never with an aggressive thinner, which could attack the clear part.
The set contains only painting masks. The model, paints and thinner are not included in the package. The masks are cut for a particular kit of the given type and scale: before buying, check that it matches yours.
