Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal pitot tube mounted on the vertical stabilizer of the Skyhawk, in 1:72 scale. According to the name this arrangement appeared on selected versions, for example the A-4M, the OA-4M and the TA-4J. It is not a kit but a single small part that replaces the plastic probe on the top of the fin.
In 1:72 scale a pitot tube is at the edge of what an injection mold can manage. The plastic part tends to be thicker than it should be, the end is rounded instead of pointed and the surface carries the trace of the mold parting line. Turned metal, on the other hand, can be thin and still strong, it has a fine transition of diameters and a straight axis. Because it sits on the highest point of the model, it is visible from every angle and the difference from plastic is impossible to miss. It is also the place where the plastic probe most often breaks off while a finished model is being dusted.
Cut the plastic probe off and drill a hole in the fin to match the diameter of the shank, and with a thin part rather choose a drill a tenth smaller and work the hole out. The metal part is small, so work over a surface with a raised edge so that it does not bounce away. Glue it with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a toothpick, not straight from the bottle. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a thin coat of primer for metal. It is best to paint the tube at the very end, after the matting and the weathering, so that you do not have to touch it. When cleaning the finished model, always draw the brush from the fin away from the tube, never against it.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
