A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks in 1:72 scale for the early versions of the Mitsubishi A6M Reisen carrier fighter, known worldwide as the Zero. The set covers the A6M1 prototype version and the early production A6M2a machines. The Zero's long cabin canopy is made up of a great many small panes; painting the frames by hand in a small scale takes extreme patience, whereas with masks it is done in a fraction of the time.
The masks are transferred with tweezers onto a cleaned and degreased canopy, the edges are pressed down and the glazing is sprayed together with the rest of the airframe. The result is sharp, straight frame lines with no creep and with no need to scrape dried paint off the clear surfaces. Once dry, the films are gently taken off with no adhesive residue. They work with an airbrush and with a brush.
The Mitsubishi A6M Reisen was a carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy, famed for its exceptional range and agility. The A6M1 designation was carried by the prototypes; the early production machines followed on seamlessly and the type became the backbone of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service throughout the war in the Pacific.
This is a modeling accessory: the aircraft kit is not included in the package.
