This item is not an aircraft kit but an accessory photo-etched set. At Eduard the Zoom range is a smaller, color-finished selection aimed mainly at the pilot's cockpit - instrument panels, side consoles and harness belts. The assembly is quick, the parts do not have to be sprayed and the effect shows everywhere the cockpit is open to view. The set is intended for a plastic model of the AC-130J in 1:72 scale; the kit itself, glue and paints are not part of the package.
The AC-130J is the gunship version of the four-engine transport aircraft Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules. It is used by the US Air Force, specifically by its components for special operations. Unlike the transport Hercules it carries armament firing from the left side of the fuselage and extensive sensor equipment, thanks to which it can circle for long hours over the target area and provide direct fire support. It is the continuation of the line of gunship Hercules aircraft that has been developing since the 1960s.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts are really tiny, some of them smaller than 2 mm. Reckon with the fact that without sharp tweezers and a magnifier or a magnifying visor the work cannot be done. Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and hold them while doing it with a finger or a wooden stick - otherwise they fly off and you will not find them again. It pays to work over a light surface with a rim and to have thought out in advance where exactly each critical part goes. Dose the glue with a pin in fractions of a drop; an excess of super glue at this scale literally drowns the detail.
