Masking templates for the glazing of the single-engine attack helicopter in 1:72 scale. Cut to the frames of the tandem cockpit, to be applied from outside.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell AH-1 was the first production machine designed from the start as an attack helicopter. It came about cleverly: it took over the engine, the transmission and the rotor from the proven Iroquois and added an entirely new fuselage barely a meter wide with the pilot and the gunner seated one behind the other. The narrower silhouette made aiming from the ground harder and the tandem arrangement gave both men a full view forward. The S version brought flat windscreens that do not reflect flashes of sunlight, and armament with anti-armor guided missiles. It was in this form that the Cobra served with a number of armies long after the war in Vietnam ended.
The cockpit of the Cobra has a small area but a great many narrow frames and corners where tape is hard to shape by hand. Pre-cut parts solve that: they are laid on the field concerned and seated with pressure. The shapes are matched to the 1:72 kit by the brand Hobby Boss. The set deals with the outer surface of the glazing; inside the pane stays open and the modeler can close it depending on whether he plans to detail the seats and the instrument panel.
Shortly after applying it is best to go over the edges once more, because film readily lifts on a curve. It pays to lay down a thin coat of paint matching the inside of the cockpit first and only then the top camouflage; the transition on the frame then looks convincing from both sides. Anyone building a worn machine will appreciate that a wash can later be worked under a sharp edge. The package holds masking shapes exclusively, no parts and no chemicals.
