A set of precisely cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Soviet Antonov An-2 biplane in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit or a model - it is an accessory that makes it easier to paint the framing of the glazing and other small areas cleanly. The masks are applied directly to the parts, so the glazing frames gain sharp straight edges with no laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this type usually also hold circular masks for the wheel hubs, for a clean separation of tire from rim.
The Antonov An-2 was a Soviet single-engine biplane, NATO code name Colt, a rugged multi-purpose aircraft capable of short takeoff and landing from unpaved strips. It appeared at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s and was used in agriculture, transport, parachute operations and other tasks. Thanks to its reliability it is still flying today.
Carefully lift the mask off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and place it on the dry, degreased surface of the glazing. Press the edges down thoroughly so that no paint creeps under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and lift the mask before the coat has dried completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to back the edge with liquid mask.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
